What DogFitCheck provides

DogFitCheck provides general information about dog breeds and tools designed to help people compare breeds against their household, lifestyle and preferences. The service is intended as a research and decision-support tool.

Breed compatibility is guidance, not a guarantee

Dog breeds have general tendencies, but individual dogs can vary significantly. Behaviour, temperament, health and suitability can be affected by genetics, breeding, socialisation, training, health, age, environment and individual personality. A high compatibility result does not guarantee that a particular dog will be suitable for you.

Health information

DogFitCheck may include information about breed-related health conditions, health burden and screening considerations. This information is provided for general educational purposes only. It is not veterinary advice, diagnosis or treatment advice. For advice about an individual dog, speak to a qualified veterinary professional.

Choosing or acquiring a dog

DogFitCheck should be used as one part of your research. Before acquiring a dog, you should also consider the individual animal, breeder or rescue information, veterinary advice where relevant, your household circumstances and your ability to meet the dog's needs.

Accuracy of information

We aim to use reliable evidence and keep breed information accurate and useful. However, sources may disagree, breed guidance changes over time, some characteristics require judgement or normalisation, and errors may occasionally occur. We do not guarantee that every item of information will always be complete, current or error-free.

Advertising and affiliate relationships

DogFitCheck may display advertising or use affiliate links in future. Where appropriate, commercial relationships will be disclosed. Advertising or affiliate arrangements will not determine breed compatibility scores.

You may use DogFitCheck for normal personal use. You must not deliberately interfere with the operation or security of the website, attempt unauthorised access to private systems, misuse automated access in a way that disrupts the service, or reproduce substantial parts of the site for commercial purposes without permission.
