Methodology and sources

DogFitCheck is designed to make uncertainty visible and keep every factual claim traceable.

The foundation

Evidence first.Fit second.Prose last.

Each breed fact moves through three separate layers: what approved sources say, the canonical structured record, and the Fit Check model that compares that record with a person’s circumstances.

01Evidence

Source metadata and concise field-level summaries.

02Canonical data

Normalised values with confidence, status and derivation notes.

03Fit Check model

PASS, CAUTION, CONFLICT, HARD CONFLICT or UNKNOWN.

Source policy

What counts as evidence?

Preferred sources include the Royal Kennel Club, PDSA, Royal Veterinary College/VetCompass, RSPCA, Dogs Trust and relevant peer-reviewed veterinary literature. Blogs, snippets, anecdotes, model memory and the old archive are not sufficient evidence for critical claims.

Breed tendencies are not guarantees.

Individual dogs vary with genetics, socialisation, training, health and life experience. The product will never promise that a breed will be safe with children, quiet, hypoallergenic or able to tolerate a specific number of hours alone.
